Episode 24: The Opened Box (Hirakareta Hako)
Personally, this is my favorite episode in the whole series. It doesen't focus on anyone but Pandora and Kestra (Sizer and Hamel only appear as babies). The reason why I like it so much is because this episode really gives the series a complete feel to it. The way I see it this shows that VoH TV is a story of History repeating itself. Also, this episode stands on it's own very well. You can enjoy this without having seen the episodes before it.
*End of jerrin's babble fest*
*begin episode summary :P*
This episode is the story of Pandora and Kestra told from her perspective. The episode begins with a scene of angry torch-bearing villagers surrounding a house. Then you see Pandora run into Kestra's arms and he says "Thank You, Pandora" (You see them through the mirror Hamel was looking into in the first ep) and then a cut to the title screen.
(Then back in time from that point) Pandora and Kestra work in a barren field until she suddenly hits something that causes her to fall over. It's the day they found the box. Kestra runs to her to see if she is alright.
(And back farther in time) Pandora was on a ship wrecked at sea, she ends up on the shore where Kestra finds her. He takes her in and the fall in love. Pandora is (deliriously) happy with him.
(back to the scene with the box) They stand over the sweltering land and then inside the house, Kestra stares at the box as it sits on the table until a sudden jolt (earthquake).
The ground surrounding their house moves and breaks until it forms until nothing is left but their home.
Pandora hands water out to all of the decemated people since they seem to be the only ones in the area still with these things.
Pandora runs inside and Kestra is looking in the mirror, she is talking to him but he doesent respond and now he is staring at the box again. She notices that hes not responding and then he suddenly snaps out of the trance and respons asking what she was saying. She says it was nothing, then he tells her he loves her. He goes back out to work.
In the night Pandora awakes to find Kestra is not there, she goes to find him and discovers him in the other room scratching at the box (not to mention looking like hes had a bad drug reaction)
They next day Kestra doesnet come out of the house and when she goes to check on him he freaks out and says hes not going (even scarier looking face then before).
The next scene is when the people come with the torches. They suspect something is going on in the house, inside Pandora is startled by Kestra who comes out with a sheet around him. She says hes being very strange and the sheet drops. Kestra has grown a horn and is holding the box. He tells her he knows his love for her, but not who he is. She is devoted to him no matter what. She runs into his arms. (scene from beginning) Kestra begs her to open the box for him, she does it and a beam of light comes out.
*intermission*
Hamel and Sizer are born. She brings them outside and basically says that dad is out. Right next to their house the Mazoku HQ is being built. Kestra is there commanding his generals. Bass, Guitar, Oboe, Drum . . . Then kestra plays the violin. and a cut back to the scene where Pandora opens the box.
All of the evil's come out and she drops the box. Back at the castle (Kestra not there), they are discussing something and Oboe leaves. Then Pandora is running back to her house thinking "Please don't kill my children" Kestra is already there and is going to take them. Then a cut to Pandora running in the rain with Hamel and Sizer. Kestra sees they are gone and looses it (turns into a demon). He is in a tree waiting for her and she sees him and stops. She is scared and tries to defend her children. He goes to her and and begs her to open the box again, but this time to trap him in it. He fears he will harm her if she does not do what he asks. He starts to loose himself and turn more demon. She hesitates and doesen't want to do as he asks. She doesent want to loose her love but he says he won't be there anymore. He goes to attack her and she screams, teh box opens in her hand and Kestra dissapears. Pandora screams for Kestra, and drops to the ground but it is too late.
The next scene is Lute coming out a carriage to her, he takes teh Key to the box and then Pandora is in Slur where she hides the box. She still lives on with her children. Oboe is turned into a bird by Bass, Sizer is taken by the mazoku. Pandora and Hamel are alone now but she is dealing with it and Smiles.
